Late night shopping was very successful despite the wet and windy
weather! Lots of people came in for a warming glass of mulled wine and
a mince pie. We made £330, which was more than we had hoped for! Many
thanks to everyone who came along to support us, and also to the
volunteers who manned the stalls and made it all possible.
Age Concern (Lewes) will shortly become a "Friend of Age UK". More details to follow...
The coffee morning held recently at the
House of Friendship was a great success and raised £240. Many thanks to
all who attended!
I am pleased to say that Ann, our cook who was taken ill while on holiday recently, is now making a speedy recovery.
We have received a number of donations of apples, artichokes, jams and
jellies which are being put to very good use in our kitchen. Thank you!
The House of Friendship celebrated its 40 years anniversary with a
grand Garden Party on Saturday 5th June. Over one hundred people
attended including Norman Baker MP, Mayor Micheal Turner and the
Mayoress Anne Turner, and many of our members. We were also joined by
the daughters of the original founders, Mr & Mrs Richards. The
catering staff did an excellent job preparing and serving the typical
English tea, helped by committee members. Music was provided by the
Society Syncopaters - a local jazz band - who helped the afternoon go
with a swing. The weather was perfect so we couldn't have asked for
more.
