What is Age Concern and what does it do in Lewes?

Age Concern is a national organisation which aims to promote the wellbeing of the older members of our community. It provides advice and guidance on a range of issues and also seeks to influence government and public policy for the benefit of those over 55.
For residents in the Lewes area, Age Concern is based in the House of Friendship on School Hill in central Lewes. The House is a beautiful Georgian building which Age Concern received as a generous bequest from its former owners.

You are most warmly welcomed to the House where you will find the following activities take place on a regular basis:-
  • Home-cooked lunches at affordable prices
  • Gentle exercise classes to music
  • Computer training
  • Footcare
  • Snooker / Billiards
  • Whist, Scrabble and a range of other activities

But....If you just want to come along to relax or to meet others for a chat in a warm and comfortable lounge - perhaps also having tea or coffee - that's fine. For the summer months, we have a lovely, quiet garden at the rear of the house in which you can sit and enjoy the summer weather and the delightful flowers and shrubs.

Occasionally, we arrange trips to the theatre, local pantomimes and gardens.
